Sebaceous glands are the oil factories which keep skin lubricated. Sometimes they remain over productive and the excess oil can lead to spots and blackheads at any age. If bacteria becomes trapped in the pores this can become infected and lead to inflamed skin, whiteheads or acne. Exposure to mineral oils can block the pores making conditions worse.
